RADAR - Pedigree

Radar displays all the superb features of his sire, the deceased dressage star Olympic Cocktail, who gathered world fame in the International Dressage Sport with his rider, Anky van Grunsven. Cocktail was the best earning KWPN bred dressage horse in the Netherlands and earned his Olympic title at an early age by winning the National Dressage Stallion Competition in 1990. In 1995 he was awarded Horse of the Year. He received keur status as a result of his performance in International dressage and also because of the superior quality of his offspring. Before his early death in 1999 he took 10th place in the World Rankings.

Cocktails's sire Purioso was known in the 1990's as a sport horse producer as much for dressage as jumping. Purioso had three 'Olympic' sons - Wendela, Ambush and Cocktail. Purioso is a son of the leading German stallions Furioso II. Furioso II, with as least 68 approved sons and 200 state premium mares, has influenced breeding worldwide, he become the foundation sire in the Oldenburg breeding area. The full brother of Furioso II is the French stallion Mexico (a gem of a cross, out of Dame de Ranvill, By Talisman), whose son Le Mexico is a producer of top sport horses, including Olympic Pride, Olympic Briljant and Olympic Rad Boy. Mexico himself stayed in France and became the sire of sire jumpers like Rambouillet, Rush du Camp and Jexico de Parc. Cocktail's dam, keur preferent Ulissa is also the dam of the approved stallion Flaco (by Pele). Cocktails's offspring show good rhythm and balance in a spacious trot and great suppleness in an excellent canter.

On Radar's dam's side, Le Mexico's (upgraded to keurhengst in 1987) young stock were being hugely successful both in dressage and show jumping. By 1983, some of Le Mexico's oldest offspring (9 years old) were Grade A show jumpers or International dressage competitors, for example Lucinda, Opstalan's Peckwush, Fliegette of Noordland, Bollvorm'sRad boy, Mexican, Murphy Brown La Silla and Burggravin.

Le Mexico was number one in his performance test in HLP Sleen in 1974, he had a total of 174.86. Le Mexico produced approved sons Astronaut, Beau Le Mexico, C Diamond, Le Mexico II, Lester, Silvano and Ulft (top of his performance test, first stallions ever to receive 9 in dressage! Ulft was also a great show jumper, he had produced six approved sons, one of which is Ferro).
